Weekend and bank holiday GP provision

Posted on December 22nd, 2021

On weekends and bank holidays from Saturday 18th December until 16th January, 8am to 8pm, you can call NHS 111 or 0333 332 6570 and select option 4 if you need urgent help for a non-life-threatening condition. Please only do this with new medical issues: these appointments are not intended to deal with long-term problems, nor with administrative issues.

Outside of these hours please call 111.

Don’t forget that you can also go to your local pharmacy for non-urgent health advice.

Please only call 999 if you believe there is a life-threatening emergency.

In particular, if you have run out of a repeat medication, you can get this from your pharmacist in an emergency without needing to talk to a doctor. The NHS allows pharmacies to issue emergency supplies of medication where necessary, and this only requires your pharmacist to talk to you and confirm that you’ve had the medication before.

You can check whether your normal pharmacy is open via the NHS website, and find one which is open in the same place.
